It joined our union in 1796. Nashville currently has a population of 5,689,283. Its largest city is Memphis, while it’s capital if Nashville. Other important cities there are: Knoxville, Chattanooga, and Clarksville
Tennessee is bordered by Kentucky, Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Missouri. It is divided into 6 geographic regions: Blue Ridge, Appalachian Ridge/Valley, Cumberland Plateau, Highland Rim, Nashville Basin, and the Gulf Costal Plain. Tennessee is home to 95 counties, 54 state parks, and 15 state forests. Tennessee also shares with other states, several federal reservoir developments located on the Cumberland and Tennessee River, one such controller of those is the Tennessee Valley Authority.
As far as climate is concerned, Tennessee does have many days of fog, as it has numerous mountain ranges within its borders. It also occasionally experiences remnant effects of tropical cyclones, due to its location near the other costal states and the Gulf of Mexico. Its summers are typically hot with moderately cool winters. It also receives around 50 inches or precipitation a year and anywhere from 5 to 16 inches of snow.
With regard to its economical status, Tennessee as of 2005 was the 18th state with the highest amount of gross product at $28,641 billon. Major inputs found there are electrical power, textiles, cotton, and cattle (of which there are 90,000 cattle farms there in total). It also has a very high level of tobacco production.
Some interesting sites there are the Rock City Gardens, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and the American Museum of Atomic Energy. It is also known for its Nashville Predators hockey team and with the football, the Tennessee Titans.
