Per the 2005 US Census Bureau, New Hampshire's population is 96.0 % White American, 0.7 % African American, 1.3% Asian American, 0.6% some other race, .2% American Indian, 1.1% mixed race. 1.7% of the people are Hispanic or Latino (of any race).
It was one of the original Thirteen Colonies and became the ninth state (on June 21 1788) to ratify the United States Constitution. New Hampshire was the first U.S. state to have its own state constitution. It has has county government
The weather can be changeable; with warm, humid summers, cold, wet winters, and uniform precipitation all year. The climate of the southeastern portion of the state is moderated somewhat by the Atlantic Ocean and averages relatively milder and wetter weather, while the northern and interior portions experience relatively cooler temperatures and lower humidity. Winters are cold and snowy throughout the state, and are especially severe in the northern and mountainous areas.
Their main sources of income are dairy products, greenhouse products, apples, cattle, and eggs. Since the late 1800s manufacturing has been important in the state. The textile mills and factories producing leather goods that once lined the state's fast-moving rivers have given way to high-technology firms, many of them migrating from the Boston area and its higher tax rates. Year-round tourism is now the state's leading industry. Many visitors come to enjoy the state's beaches, mountains, and lakes. The largest lake, Winnipesaukee, is dotted with 274 inhabitable islands.
